Obituary for Mary Nichols (Miller) Mary Beatrice Nichols, 86, of Saint Albans, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House. Born December 13, 1931 in Clay County, West Virginia, Mary was 1 of 12 children of Homer and Lettie Miller. Mary was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church for 63 years where she served as the Toddler’s Church teacher for forty-three years.
Mary, a nurturing person, loved watching the growth of both her flower gardens and the children placed in her care. She served as a cook for Kanawha County schools, and her culinary skills benefited many. Mary found pure joy in sharing what she had with others.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Woodrow Nichols, and her sons, Richard and Jeffrey. Mary is survived by her son, John, and her daughter-in-law, Shawn. Mary delighted in her role as Grandma to granddaughters, Amanda and Michelle, and her newest role as Great-Grandma to great-granddaughter, Fern.
A service to honor the life of Mary Nichols will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, July 13, 2018 at Spring Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Dean Chambers officiating. A private burial will be held the following day, in the Nichols Family Cemetery in Clay county. Family and friends may visit from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Spring Hill Baptist Church, South Charleston.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Mary’s name to Hospice Care of Kanawha County or to the Union Mission in Charleston, West Virginia. Online condolences may be shared at www. haferfuneralhome.net.
