Mary Beth Talamo, of Damascus, MD, loving wife and mother, passed away at age 87, Friday, November 9, 2018. Mary Beth was born on September 24, 1931, in Long Island, NY, to Curtis and Emma Jane (Phippard) Vance. Mary Beth earned her Bachelor’s Degree in music at The State University of New York at Potsdam, where in 1950, she met and later married Jack, her husband of 62 years.

She began teaching instrumental music in New York, and after moving to Maryland, continued teaching in Montgomery County Public Schools for 29 years. Mary Beth was very active in the VFW Post 10076 Auxiliary in Mount Airy, the American Legion Unit 171 in Damascus, and the Damascus Senior Center. She was the organist at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Damascus, for more than three decades, where Jack directed the church choir.

Her faith, love of music and family were the driving forces in her life. We will miss her loving and caring heart, as we now leave her in God’s hands. Mary Beth is survived by her husband, Jack, her three children, Jeannette, Diane and Tom, her grandchildren, Stephanie, Justin, Devon and Ryland, and great grandchild, Halie.

A visitation will be held Thursday November 15, 2018 from 6-8 p.m., at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Rd, Damascus, MD. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 16, 2018, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 9250 E Damascus Rd, Damascus, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made, in Mary Beth’s name, to American Legion Unit 171, P. 0.
