Mary E Castana , August 12, 1920 — June 10, 2018

The heart of the Castana family has stopped beating with the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary Castana, at the age of 97. She went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 10, 2018, in the Mon Valley Hospital. Mary was born on August 12, 1920, in Daisytown, the daughter of the late Stephen Barnek and Katarina Barnak Mudry.

She was a resident of Charleroi for 75 years. In her younger days she belonged to several organizations and always attended Mary, Mother of the Church, in Charleroi. Left to cherish her memory are a son, Darwin Castana, and wife Loretta, of Rostraver Twp.

; daughter, Beverly Millon, of Fallowfield Twp. ; her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Guggie”, Kelly Keegan, and husband Greg, and their children Daniel and Kaitlyn, of Rostraver Twp. , Laurie Usher, and husband Greg, and their children, Larissa, Zachary, and Logan, of Speers Hill, and Lieutenant Colonel Lee Castana, and wife Kristen, and their children Jacob and Lindsey, of Fort Leavenworth, KS.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Herman Castana, on April 22, 1981; son-in-law, Henry Millon, on December 28, 1990; and 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Her family feels blessed to have had her wisdom, love, kindness, and presence for many wonderful years. She truly made a difference in the lives of her family.

As per Mary’s request, services and burial at Monongahela Cemetery were private.
