Mary Ellen Barnes, 84, formerly of Lakeview, died 3:34 p.m., Wed. Jan. 23, 2019, at the Shawnee Manor, Lima.

She was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Putnam County, OH, the daughter of Milton A. & Hazel (Radar) Hunter, who preceded her in death. On July 8, 1952, she married Donald E. Barnes, and he died Sept.

9, 2003. Survivors include, 4 children, Ricky (Debra) Barnes, Lakeview, OH, Kevin (Jenny) Barnes, Anna, OH, Belinda (Doug) Hamblin, Delaware, OH, Christy Barnes, Lima, OH, 8 grandchildren, Eric (Kelli) Barnes, Trevor (Trisha) Barnes, Morgan Barnes, Ryan (Trisha) Barnes, Greg (Crisha) House, Steven (Lisa) House, Jeffrey Sandoe, & Emily (James) Schipper 16 great grandchildren, Cole Barnes, Blake Barnes, Carson Barnes, Bailey Barnes, Braden Barnes, Zach Barnes, Greyson Barnes, Jarod Hooks, Carley House, Grant House, Lauren House, Brooklyn House, Chelsea Schipper, Owen Schipper, Brenna Schipper, & Kenzie Huizenga, 5 sisters, Rosetta Scales, NM, Martha (Marty) Miller, FL, Lila (Charles) Beers, Wapakoneta, OH, Elaine Hunter, Lima, OH, Jacque (Ed) Webb, FL, She was preceded in death by 3 sisters Lavonne (Marvin) Katter, Jeanne Chiles, and Betty Lou (John) Snider and brother-in-law Gene Scales. Mrs. Barnes had worked for the sewing factory, later she had owned he own bakery, and then worked as a secretary for Block Insurance.

She was a 1952 graduate of Waynesfield High School. She enjoyed baking, decorating cakes, sewing, and being a farmer’s wife. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Mon.

Jan. 28, 2019, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta Pastor Mark Ledford officiating.

Burial will follow in Walnut Hill, New Hampshire. The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m., Sun. at the funeral home.
