Mary Ellen Newell August 08, 1922 – February 04, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Mary Ellen H. Newell, age 96 of Chicago, Illinois passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019. Beloved wife of the late John Cooper Newell, Jr. who preceded in her death on June 16, 1964. John and Mary Ellen were joined in holy matrimony on January 21, 1944; Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Sharon Ellen Breyer, John Cooper Newell III, Diane Huntington Newell and Mark Lawrence Newell, Sr.; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mary Ellen is also preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Jon Newell. Services are being held at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Palos Heights, Illinois on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held in the spring at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Verona, North Dakota, where she will be buried next to her parents, Samuel & Selma Huntington. Dahlstrom Funeral Home of Oakes will be handling her spring burial.
