Mary’s Obituary September 20, 1920 – May 21, 2019 Mary Carney Hodges of Hickman, KY passed away on May 21, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital In Union City, Tennessee. She was born to Isaac Hatmaker and Julia Longmire Hatmaker in Marlow, Tennessee. She and her brothers were sent to the Kentucky Children’s Home from Strait Creek, Kentucky in 1923.

In 1925, she went to live with Barney B. and Della Nall Carney in Mayfield, Kentucky. Mrs. Hodges was a 1939 graduate of Mayfield High School and attended the Howard D. Happy Business in Mayfield and worked at the West Viola National Fireworks Plant during World War II. She held several positions in Graves and Fulton Counties over the years and retired as District Clerk of the Fulton County Soil Conservation District in 1990.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, L. T. Hodges, whom she married on November 24, 1944; a daughter Mary Lynne Hodges; four brothers, Edward Hatmaker, Pineville, Kentucky, Ernest Hatmaker, Ekron, Kentucky, Sam Hatmaker, Traverse City, Michigan, Jack Dicken, Pace, Florida. She survived by a son, Tom Hodges, Hickman, Kentucky, and many beloved nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Graveside funeral services for Mary Carney Hodges will be at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, May, 28, 2019, at the Hickman City Cemetery with Henry Callison officiating.
