Mary I. Gordy, age 82, of Harris passed away at her daughter’s home in Linwood Township on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 after a brave battle with cancer. Mary was born on June 23, 1936 in St. Paul to parents William and Isabel (Paulos) Kropp. Mary attended North St. Paul Schools and graduated with the class of 1954.

She joined the military and served her country for a brief period. She married Charles Nelson and was widowed at a young age after he was killed in a car accident. She… Read More » later married John Gordy in 1964 and they spent 42 years together before he passed away in November of 2007.

They lived briefly in Portland, Oregon where she loved the ocean views. She and John moved back to Minnesota where they bought a log home near Harris where she spent many years taking care of the love of her life, “Johnny”. Mary loved going to the casino, traveling throughout the United States with John and their time spent in Arizona.

She “loved the Lord with all her heart” and will be greatly missed by her family. Mary is survived by her children, Debbie (Mark) Underdahl of Linwood Township, Michelle Soderland of Oakdale, Pam (Todd) Bowman of Cambridge and John Gordy of St. Paul; sisters, Helen Lockery of Maplewood, Grace (Don) Elliot of Portland, OR, Alice Parmenter of California, Karen (Leo) Porter of Jackson and Bonnie (Walt) Shank of St. Cloud. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Charles and John, sister, Florence Giampolo, brother, William Kropp and grandchildren, Katie, Jonathon and Jessie. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
