Mary Lou Olive Murphy, passed away February 28, 2019, at the age of 80. She was a graduate of Coffee High School (Class of ’57). She later received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Northwest Shoals Community College.

She was employed with Humana Hospital for 13 years as an RN which she truly enjoyed. She was also a Charter member of the Shoals Elk’s Lodge and a member of the Decatur Emblem’s Club. She often talked of her faith; enjoyed reading scripture, and loved her church family at Woodmont Baptist Church.

She was a strong, beautiful and gracious woman inside and out who is greatly loved and will be missed by many throughout the state of Alabama. Visitation will be Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Brother Chad Hess officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard E. Olive, Sr. and Juanita Olive; brother, Robert Olive; and daughter, Nita Anne Bradley. She leaves behind her husband, Jimmie “Jim” Murphy; daughters, Jamie Mitchell (Billy); and Sheila Martz (Butch); grandchildren, Riley and Mckinsey (her doll babies), Rhiannon Waddell, Christina and Autumn Bradley, Randy and Betina Martz; sister, JoAnne Kimbrell (Rogers); brothers, Bernard E. Olive, Jr. (Shirley), and Bobby Darby (Barbara).

Active pallbearers will be Dan Barger, Jim Lunchford, Jay Lewis, Rick Thompson, Jim Norton, and Lester Collins. Dr. Felix Morris and Dr. Danny Martin will serve as honorary pallbearers. A special thanks to Dr. Felix Morris, Kindred Hospice, and the ICU nurses at North Alabama Medical Center for all their care, help and comfort.
