There were no calling hours for Mary “Maggie” Catullo Meyers, 96, who passed away January 11, 2019 at Briarfield Manor. She had been a resident at the Inn at Glenellen for almost seven years. Maggie was born May 15, 1922 in Youngstown, the daughter of Matteo and Maria Donato Catullo.

She was a 1940 graduate of East High School and was a member of its National Honor Society. Maggie was a long-time member of St. Matthias Church (Our Lady of Sorrows) and was a member of its Infant Jesus of Prague Guild and served as its secretary. Maggie was an avid bowler and a member of the Wednesday Idlers, Grandmothers, and the Italian-American mixed foursome leagues, with the Wednesday Idlers being her favorite.

Maggie is survived by her daughters Mrs. Patricia Houck of Chesapeake, VA, Laura Meyers of Tallmadge; son Joseph A. Meyers of Fort Myers, FL; sister Amelia Knapick of Youngstown; brother Joseph (Sue) Catullo of Boardman; six grandchildren, Julie (Bob) Schaeffer of Chesapeake, VA, Christopher Boyle of West Haven, CT, Donny Houck of Columbus, David (Karen) Houck of Canfield, Jesse (Kelly) Brotje of North Royalton, Jamie Sipps of Cuyahoga Falls; and three great-grandchildren Corey Schaeffer, Kristen Boyle and Ava Elise Brotje. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph “Bud” Meyers, whom she married on December 14, 1943 at Immaculate Conception Church in Youngstown, an infant son Vincent, daughter Kathleen Levine, two brothers Anthony and Patsy Catullo, a sister Sue (Joseph) LoCicero and a son-in-law Donald A. Houck Sr. Maggie will be laid to rest at Lake Park Cemetery alongside her husband Joseph. Family requests any material contributions in memory of Maggie be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512.
