Mary Margaret Gray October 13, 1927 – January 27, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Mary Margaret Gray, 91 of Hankinson, ND passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019 at St. Gerard’s Community of Care, Hankinson, ND. Visitation will be Friday, February 1, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Hankinson, ND. Visitation will continue on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 10-11 a.m. followed by the funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Hankinson, ND.

Burial will be in the spring in Calvary Cemetery, Hankinson. Mary Margaret Murphy was born on October 13, 1927 in rural Graceville, MN, the daughter of Edward & Martina (Ehrnst) Murphy. She graduated from Graceville High School in 1946, later attending and completing two years at Moorhead, MN Teachers College.

Mary taught at country grade schools for five years in Minnesota & North Dakota. On June 28, 1951 Mary married Thomas Vincent Foley at the Barry, MN St. Barnabus Catholic Church. To this union tow children were born, Eugene and Dennis.

They lived and farmed north of Barry until Vince’s death on September 14, 1956. On December 12, 1959, Mary married Leo Walter Gray at St. Barnabus Catholic Church, Barry, MN. Mary & Leo resided and farmed on acreage and homestead located on the North Dakota/South Dakota state line in Greendale township, ND.

To this union three children were born; Dianne, Kevin and Robert. Mary and Leo joined St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Hankinson, ND. Her husband Leo passed on May 23, 1989.

Mary was very active in the church and community including serving as past president of Right to Life, a CCD teacher, involved in American Legion & VFW Auxiliaries and many others. She had a great passion for the love of her family and was very committed to her faith. She is survived by her children: Eugene (Linda) Foley, Graceville, MN, Dennis (Sandy) Foley, Mexico Beach, FL, Dianne (Jeff) Kriz, Wahpeton, ND, Kevin Gray, Frazee, MN, Robert (Yolanda) Gray, Fessenden, ND; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brothers: Jim (Nancy) Murphy, Graceville, MN, Pat (Mary) Murphy, Two Harbors, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Martina; husbands: Vince Foley and Leo Gray; brothers: Bill, Joe, Leo and Bob.
