Mary (Markun) Rozman, aged 80, passed into eternal life on November 12, 2018 with her devoted family surrounding her. Marinka is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Bernard; her children, Paul (Renee), Greg (Kerry) and Theresa; her grandchildren, Stephanie and Michael Williams, Anton “Tinč” and Janez Lockwood, Thomas Rozman and Gregory Rozman. Her extended family includes her siblings; Francel (Rosemary), Neza (the late Bill) Lodewyck, Stane (Ivanka), Florijan (Mili), Blaz (Ginny) Markun, and her sister-in-law, Dr. Antonia Rozman.

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that held her dear. She is preceded in death by daughter, Helen (2011), her son, Bernardek (in infancy), and her parents Florijan and Marija Markun. Marinka was born in Slovenia, having come to the United States as a teenager, met Bernard during a retreat weekend in Lemont, and were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Joliet, where they raised their family.

If there was a song to be sung or choir to be joined, Marinka was there. She was a long-time member of the Slovenska Pesem Slovenian Choir and the 8:30am St. Joseph’s “Senior Choir”. She was well-known for many years as “Mary, the Potica Lady” and was a cheerful face to many golfers at both Woodruff and Wedgewood Golf Courses.

Mama was always known to have a “brag book” of photos with her to show off her family to anyone and everyone and always had a smile and a sparkle for all who came her way! Donations in Marinka’s name to the Friends of St. Mary’s in Lemont, Illinois would be appreciated. A celebration of Marinka’s life will begin on Saturday November 17, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:00 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery among her family.
