OBITUARY Mary Pizzoferrato April 28, 1944 – September 8, 2018 Mary (DiProspero) Pizzoferrato of Newington, passed away peacefully at Avery Heights nursing home on Sept 8, 2018 at the age of 74, with her loving family by her side. Mary was born on April 28, 1944 in Province of L’ Aquilla, Abruzzo, Italy, daughter to the late Francesca (Libatore) and Rocco DiProspero. In December of 1955 Mary’s parents and siblings came to Hartford from Italy, where they made their home.

Mary was a devoted mother and moved to West Hartford to raise her three children and give them a better life. She was the owner/operator of the Golden Clippers Hair Salon in Newington where the clients became her friends. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed trips to the casino, traveling, going to the movies, dancing, gardening, and spending time with her family.

She was dedicated to living her life through her faith in God and the Catholic Church. Mary was a kind, easy going, generous person who always put others first before herself, she will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Mary is survived by her son, Marco Pizzoferrato and his wife Leigh of Wethersfield, her son, Dan Pizzoferrato and his wife Kim of Newington and her daughter, Vanessa Pizzoferrato of New Britain.

She also leaves behind her six grandchildren, Zoe, Brock, Xavier, Rocco, Nico and Ava Pizzoferrato. Mary also leaves her brothers, Nick DiProspero of Wethersfield and Tony DiProspero of West Hartford and her sister, Laura Brown of South Windsor. Funeral services will leave on Thursday (September 13) at 9 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britian Avenue, Hartford.

Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd.
