OBITUARY Louise Delaney February 13, 1942 – September 2, 2018 Louise (Pontecorvo) Delaney, 76, of Winston-Salem, NC, and formerly Wethersfield, beloved wife for 39 years of the late Robert D. Delaney, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018. Born in New Haven on February 13, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Jennie (Petronzi) Pontecorvo. She was a graduate Sacred Heart Academy and of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, and spent many years working at the hospital as well as several area convalescent facilities.

Louise was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, UConn men’s and women’s basketball games, and the WNBA. A loving mother and grandmother, Louise will be forever missed by her son, Kevin A. Delaney, her former daughter-in-law Heather, and her two cherished grandchildren, Michael and Dennin, all of Winston-Salem. She is also survived by her brother, Anthony Pontecorvo, Jr., of Branford, her sister, Esther DeLucia and husband Robert of Glastonbury, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her stepson, Robert D. Delaney, Jr. Special thanks are extended to Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and Trellis Supportive Care, both of Winston-Salem, for their care and compassion. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (September 12) at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Parish (Corpus Christi Church), 601 Silas Deane Hwy. , Wethersfield.

Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. There are no calling hours.
