Mary Madeline (Polly) Herrmann of Castle Creek, peacefully passed away Thursday June 7, 2018 . The light of our lives; she will be greatly missed. We will always remember her for the love she gave her family.

She enjoyed many hobbies, especially travelling to different countries and her passion for embroidery. She made many lasting friends along the path of her life. She survived her husband Horst, whom she met in Frankfurt, Germany while teaching school for the US Army children.

She loved her home that she and her husband built and lived in for 47 happy years. Gardening and preparing the produce for the coming winters always made them proud. Polly and her two brothers grew up in Chester Heights PA.

She received a teaching degree and taught Elementary Education for some years. She also worked for the Press and Sun Bulletin bringing news to the classroom. She is survived by her daughters Monika (John) Deskur and Anita (Mike) Olin and three grandchildren, Aaron and Nicholas Deskur and Cori Olin.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caring wonderful staff at Vestal Park Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held 5:00 pm Friday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 pm.

The burial will be private in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. in Polly’s memory.
