Mary Lois ton McCool went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday January 7, 2019. Mary was born March 17, 1932 in Wilmington, NC to William Eugene ton and Wilma Clyde Hunt. She married her husband of 44 years, Charles Emmitt McCool of West Blockton, Alabama January 8, 1953.

During her husband’s career with the US Navy, Mary and Charles chose Jacksonville as their final destination for their family. Mary was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church for 55 years. Until her recent illness, she was an active member of the Hyde Grove Senior Citizens Center.

In addition, Mary had an avid interest in her family history. She researched and studied both her and her husband’s genealogy. She traced her roots as far back as 1606 to the Reverend Robert Hunt of Jamestown, Va.

Mary is preceded in death by an infant son, Glenn and her husband Chuck. She is survived by her five sons, Charles William (Laura), Emmitt “Gene” Eugene (Donna), James “Jimmy” David (Christine), Michael “Mike” Lee (Deb), Patrick Kevin (Becky); nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and other extended family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, January 12, 2019 in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Chapel with Pastor Jimbo Stewart officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:00am until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Hospice of your choice.
