Jerry Dennis Welch, Sr. departed from his family and friends and went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2019, in Orange Park, FL. He was born on October 3, 1946 in Boissevain, VA to the late Burton Welch and Anna Lee Brooks. Jerry graduated from high school and held a license in sanitation and extermination.

He joined the United States Army and worked for the Baltimore City Health Department. Jerry enjoyed painting, wood working, gardening and collecting metal. Jerry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna Sue Welch; daughter, Kimberly (Charles) Schmidt; son, Jerry (Michelle) Welch, Jr.; grandchildren, Craig Schmidt, Jerry Welch ,III, Katelyn Welch, Ryan Schmidt and Jessica Welch; sisters in law, Dale Swann and Beth Welch; nephews, Jerry Hoffman, Howard Chaplinski and Larry Johnson; nieces, Elena Ortiz, Wanda Locklear, Denise Clark, Beverly Welch, Faith Welch, Tara Hoffman, Vanessa Chaplinski and Angela Alvarez, as well as many other family members and special friends including, Richard Edwards, Morey Kemple and Dennis Chapman.

The family would like to thank Orange Park Medical Center for the special care given to their loved one, Jerry. A visitation will be held on February 28, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233. A graveside service with military honors will be held on March 1, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
