Obituary of Mattie States Mattie Regina Mary Hottel States, 82, of Jamestown, formerly of Houston, TX and New Orleans, LA, passed away peacefully Friday December 28, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born January 23, 1936 in Hoboken, NJ the daughter of the late Louis Keller Hottel I and Cecilia Bridgett Cassanova Hottel. For 44 years, Mattie worked in Central Service at hospitals in New Orleans and Texas.

After moving back to this area, she worked at Wal Mart in Lakewood. She was a member of Holy Apostles Parish Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church; Catholic Daughters; and DAR. She volunteered at Helping Hands and the RSVP program through the Office of the Aging, and attended the Chautauqua Adult Daycare, Taft Center, for many years.

Mattie loved sewing, crocheting, playing games, gardening, and music, especially Opera. Surviving are three daughters: Alice Cecilia (Robert) Hallgren of Beasley, TX, Kim Louise Schnell of Jamestown, Regina Mary Smith of Eaton, MI; seven grandchildren: Michael (Dawn) Schnell, Naomi (Jeff) Smith, Christina Woodard, Jennifer (Michelle) Hallgren, William (Brandon) Hallgren, Timothy (Lyndsey) Thompson, Patrick (Heather) Thompson; 10 great grandchildren: Mitchell (Nikki) Schnell, Anna, Crystal, and Jessica Woodward, Trinity, Amber, Reese, Owen, Parker, and Merrick Thompson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Louis Schnell; a brother, Louis Keller Hottel II, three sisters: Margaret Louise Kramer, Nellie Jane Duhe, and Olive D’Violet Hottel King; and a great aunt, Margaret Trudeau.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. At 7 p.m., Rev. Dennis W. Mende will lead a prayer service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave, Lakewood, NY 14750; Community Helping Hands, 31 Water Street, Jamestown, NY 14701; or the Chautauqua Adult Day Care, Taft Center, 663 Lakeview Ave. , Jamestown, NY 14701.
