Max Edwin Markle, 91, of Markleville passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019. He was born June 27, 1927, in Markleville to Everett and Eva (Hodson) Markle. In 1945, Max graduated from Markleville High School.

Max retired from Delco Remy, division of General Motors after 35 years of service. He was member of the United Auto Workers Local 662. He served in the US Army Air Corps and was a member of AmVets Post 25.

He was a lifelong member of Markleville North Christian Church and served as treasurer for 60 years. He was also a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Mary (Gustin) Markle of Markleville; son David (Peggy) Markle of Anderson; son-in-law Bruce (Joyce) Griffith of Markleville; grandchildren, Brett (Bethany) Griffith of Greenwood, Laura (Keelan) Markle Downton of Arlington, Virginia, Ryan (Amy) Griffith of Fishers; great grandchildren, Breanna and Blake Griffith; sibling Nancy (Kyle) Sandefur; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra L. Griffith; sister Martha Lewis; brothers, Eldon Markle and Harold ‘H’ Markle; and brother-in-law, Robert L. Gustin. Services will be at 11:00 am, Monday, March 11, 2019, at Markleville North Christian Church, 32 State Street, Markleville, with Pastor John Hackney officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson and one hour prior on Monday at the church.
