Max J. Cole, 80, of Cogan Station, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at home surrounded by family. Born Sept. 22, 1938 in South Williamsport, he was a son of the late Ai and Catherine M. (Becker) Cole.

Max was a graduate of South Williamsport High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1961. He worked as a supervisor at Wundies for 41 years before retiring. It was there that he met the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Evelyn (Reber) Cole, who survives.

Max was a member of the Lycoming Creek Lions Club for several years. When not at work, he enjoyed being outdoors, hunting or riding his bicycle. His true passion was woodworking, as he created beautiful pieces for his home and his family without ever needing to sketch designs.

Max was a MacGyver when it came to solving problems and fixing things. His fatherly demeanor and love for his family will certainly be missed. In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by two brothers.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Michael A. Cole (Marie), of Cogan Station; a daughter, Misty A. Balliet (Mark), of Linden; five grandchildren, Echo, Amanda, Paul, Marcia and Breanna; and five great-grandchildren with one on the way. In keeping with Max’s wishes, there will be no services.
