Maxine O. Scarry, life time resident of Chester passed away at the East Liverpool City Hospital on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, after a brief illness. 90 years old, Maxine was born in East Liverpool on March 7, 1928. Her parents were the late William A. and Lula Vaun Cochran Chaney.

Since birth, she was a member of the church that she loved so much, the Chester First Christian Church, where she touched virtually every member’s life in some compassionate, kind way. Maxine was the past secretary and treasurer of Mission Society and head Deaconess which oversaw many activities within the church including funeral meals and the annual Easter Sunrise dinners. Having been raised in Chester, she was quite a familiar figure around town.

Maxine met everyone she came in to contact with, with a kind word and warm smile, especially when she was on one of her many walks with her dog. A graduate of the former Chester High School, she retired after 45 years as the executive secretary of the Chester First National Bank. Maxine was adored and will be deeply missed by her family, her children, Kathy Ionno and her husband Blaze of Northfield, NJ.

, and Mick Scarry of New Cumberland; and her special grandchildren, Rachael (Leon), Blaze (Amy), Scott (Jessica), Cody, Ashley (TJ), and Justin; and her great-grandchildren, Karraghan, Tyler, Logan, Kasssady, Mason, Camrey, Isabella, Karalena, Scott, Austin, Josh, Brayden, Wyatt, Caden, Blaze Jr., and Johnny. A special niece and nephew survive as well, Pam Migliore and Ed Melott. The love of her life, who she married on August 6, 1949, William Scarry, passed away on November 24, 2015.

Also, she suffered the loss of her granddaughter, Allison Scarry on December 30, 2015; and her sister, Sara Melott. January 6, 2013. Family friend, Pastor Denise Arnold will celebrate Maxine’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Monday, January 14 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow along-side her husband at the Locust Hill Cemetery.
