Melanie’s Obituary Melanie was born in Louisiana to proud parents Ann and Dwayne Jordan. She was an active child involved in girl scouts, dance and playing with her little sister Michelle and baby brother Michael. After Michael was born, Melanie was raised by her single mother Ann in Arkansas.

She grew into an amazing woman, full of life, love, and faith in God. Upon graduation from high school she attended Florida State University and finished her degree at Southern Arkansas University. Melanie was very kind, compassionate, and a very sweet person who loved deeply.

Her greatest loves are her two sons, Nick and JP. She loved to watch her son’s do anything they were involved in and was especially fond of watching their baseball games. She loved and was so proud of her two nieces Erika and Kylee as well as all of her immediate and extended family.

While she was married, she enjoyed sailing and camping with her family. They would go catch crabs and have beach days and grill out in their back yard. Melanie had many friends and liked to play bunko and have cookie exchange parties.

She worked as an aerobics instructor as well as teaching swim lessons and water aerobics at the local YWCA. She was involved in various volunteer works and was so generous with her time. Melanie’s work at Birthright pregnancy counseling brought peace and joy to countless new mothers and their children.

Her greatest accomplishment was taking care of her family by cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, and nourishing her kids with love and tenderness. She raised Nick and JP to be wonderful, kind, and brilliant sons while always keeping them close to their faith. Even after her divorce several years ago she continued loving her children and God ever deeper.

She began teaching children in the Atrium at St. Pius School, so they would learn about and experience the love of Christ. Her faith in God was seen by everyone she encountered. She drew strength from knowing she raised such beautiful boys and from knowing God was always by her side.

She found peace in going on bike rides and seeing the beauty around her. Melanie was stronger than anyone knew, fighting bipolar depression and mania for 32 years. Although she trusted God and always offered her suffering for him, the effects of her illness took their toll.

The severity of Melanie’s illness only grew with time and it overtook her on Saturday December 1st. Her final message, an apology and request for mercy. She reinforced how proud of her son’s she was and urged them as well as everyone else to always put God first in your life.

She will be missed more than anyone can comprehend. Public visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Guardian funeral home chapel ”B” with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at St. Pius X Catholic church, 5620 Gollihar Rd.
