Obituary for Melissa Jill Boyd Larkin Melissa Jill Boyd Larkin, 43, of Knoxville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Jill, as she was known to all, was born on November 4, 1974, in Johnson City to Joyce Widener Boyd and the late William L. Boyd. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Christopher Lee Boyd, and Jon Eric Boyd.
Jill attended both Science High School and University School in Johnson City. She was an accomplished chef and worked in both casual and fine dining restaurants. Her many talents and passions include music, singing, acting, the arts, interior decorating, and spending time at the beach.
Jill had a singular and eclectic sense of style that few could successfully execute as she could. She was a rare and unique soul, and loved her children, family, and friends with a true fierceness. In addition to her mother, Joyce Boyd, those left to cherish Jill’s memory include her husband of thirteen years, John Larkin; her sons, Caleb Pleasant, of Los Angeles, CA, and Corey Larkin, of Knoxville, TN and Denver, CO; step-daughter, Savannah Larkin, of Knoxville, brother, Tim Boyd, of Atlanta, GA; and sister, Julie Boyd-McTier and husband Kenny, of Johnson City.
Additionally she is survived by many loved nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends, and her beloved dog, Charlie. The family will gather to share memories with friends on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 6:00 pm, with a Celebration of Jill’s Life commencing at 7:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City, with a Minister from Munsey United Methodist Church officiating. At Jill’s request, her cremated remains will be scattered in Myrtle Beach, SC at a later date.
