Obituary for Hazel Gardner Hazel Mae Hollifield Pealer Gardner, 75, passed away June 20, 2018 at home with her daughters by her side after a short but fierce 7 month battle with lung cancer. Hazel was born to the late Ossie Lee and Gertrude (Ponder) Hollifield on March 10, 1943 in Madison County, NC, the entire family moved to Johnson City shortly thereafter. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband George W. Gardner, Jr., a nephew Horace Hollifield, Jr. and a brother-in-law, Lee Williams.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Tina Pealer Poore and partner Jacinda Pratt, Georgianna Gardner and fiancé Cody Meeks; Granddaughters, Brittany Poore and Maevyn Meeks and nanny’s special girls, Abigail and Kaylen Jeter; Brothers, Harold Hollifield and wife Pat; Horace Hollifield and wife Barbara; Sister Helen Williams; Special family members Patsy Villani, Rodney Poore, Bo Carr; Best Friend, Maude Stamper; Special Friends, Linda Lett and Teresa Hill and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends from her 35 plus years at the ETSU Physical Plant. Please join the family in honoring Hazel’s memory with a Celebration of Life Service with Rev Bill Ponder on Saturday July 7, 2018 at Knob Creek Church 2591 Knob Creek Rd Johnson City, TN at 2pm. Please feel encouraged to bring a covered dish and gather with the family for food and fellowship afterwards.
