Obituary for Myrtie Helen Moreland Deal Myrtie Helen Moreland Deal, age 97, of Elizabethton, went home to join her family in Heaven on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from the Johnson City Medical Center. Myrtie was born on March 31, 1921 to the late Millard and Bertha Lipps Moreland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Deal; one son, Bobby Lee Deal; an infant sister, Birtie Moreland; two brothers, Robert Moreland and General Lee Moreland; a sister-in-law, Barbara Moreland; and a special nephew, Charles Moreland.
Myrtie was a member of Moore’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She loved flowers and her cats, Baby Blue, Samantha and Hannah. She enjoyed caring for others and while her health was good, she enjoyed caring for and looking at her flowers.
Myrtie loved cooking for those in the community, who were in need. She made a special place in her home for all the children in the community that would come by for a visit. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Charles (Sonny) Deal and wife Cathy, Roger Deal and wife Diane, all of Elizabethton; her daughters, Betty Bradley, of Elizabethton and Carol Deal Beeler and husband David, of Jacksonville, FL; her grandchildren, Danny Deal, Michelle Stevens, Julie Bradley and Carrie Seeley and husband Steven; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a special nephew, Greg Moreland and wife Melissa.
Several nieces and nephews, as well as her special friends, Janice Fair and Linda Davis, both of Elizabethton, also survive. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Myrtie Helen Moreland Deal will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Reverend Chris Hughes and Reverend Clarence Phillips, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Reverend Chris Hughes.
Active pallbearers will be Brandon Buchanan, Steven Seeley, Danny Deal, Larry Lynn Moreland, Ron Cretsinger and Gene Moreland. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Moreland, Johnny Rednour, Doug Fair, Clarence Phillips, Dale Johnson and David “Duck” Stout. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 AM on Friday, to go in procession.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Amedysis Hospice Care and her special nurse Emily White and Gale Miller, and Chaplin, Chris Hughes, whom the entire family is so thankful for, as they have been such as blessing to us all.
