Melvin’s Obituary Melvin Moldan, 64, of New Ulm died Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the New Ulm Medical Center surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH Chapel and will continue from 9:30 – 10:30 on Thursday at the Funeral Home. Mel is survived by his wife, Deborah of New Ulm; son, Tony (Rachael) Moldan of Mankato; daughter, Jennifer (Josh) Anderson of Inver Grove Heights; 4 Grandchildren (Noah, Eliza, James, Torin); sisters, Arlene (Jerome) Tauer of Morgan, Delores (Art) Warner of Redwood Falls; brothers, Ervan Moldan of Sleepy Eye, Gerald (Lucy) Moldan of Lamberton, Marlyn (Mary) Moldan of Hanska, Jerome (Mary) Moldan of Sleepy Eye, Harold Moldan of North Royalton, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lorraine Sampson; sister-in-law, Donna Moldan; brother-in-law’s, Cletus Homan and Glen Sampson. Melvin Moldan was born August 16, 1954 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Anton and Martha (Krzmarzick) Moldan. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Sleepy Eye.

Following graduation, Mel attended Jackson Vocational. He was united in marriage to Deborah Sellner on May 13, 1977 at Saint Mary’s Church in Sleepy Eye and they made their home in New Ulm, MN. Mel worked at 3M, Windings, and MBW.

Mel was an avid Gopher, Vikings, and Twins fan. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, gardening, and fishing. Mel was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Minneapolis.
