Meriam Harper Evans, GA- Meriam “Merry” Kilner Harper entered into rest on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, beloved wife of Dr. Harry T. Harper, III, of 56 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mabel Kilner. Mrs. Harper was born in Thomasville, GA, 1941, a graduate of Leon High School in Tallahassee, FL.

She graduated from Queens College, Charlotte, NC, and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She moved to Augusta as a bride in 1963 where she was a member of the Junior League of Augusta, the Augusta Assembly, Heritage Club, Bulbs & Borders Garden Club, PEO, and Augusta Symphony Guild. She was an active member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon, elder, and Stephen Ministry.

She enjoyed teaching sewing classes, flower arranging, attending bible study, and playing tennis, golf, and bridge with her many friends. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: William Harper, Michael Harper (Elaine), Holly Welsh (Richard); 7 grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and 2 sisters: Kathryn Angleman (Cornell) and Cindy Baker (Doug). The family would like to thank her caregiver and friend, Gloria Mims, as well as the kind staff at the Arbor at Brandon Wilde and Southeast Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2261 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904 or the Colonnade & Pavillion Endowment at Brandon Wilde, Community Foundation for the CSRA, P.O. Box 31358, Augusta, GA 30903. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Matt Rich and Dr. Daniel McCall officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd.
