Obituary of Michael Weisberg, MD Michael D Weisberg, MD, 80, of Red Hook, NY, passed away on Saturday, December 29th, 2018 peacefully at his home. Born on July 14, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Sadie Weisberg. He was an extremely private, yet compassionate individual and those who were lucky enough to know him well knew about his love for sports and travel.

A Brooklyn boy at heart he especially loved his NY sports, if you spotted him out and about, you’d recognize him easily by his NY Giants gear. They will also remember his passion for travel, the memories made from is adventures will far outlive him in the hearts of those he took along for the ride. Dr. Weisberg is survived by his true love, his wife Katherine Weisberg whom he married on July 28, 1986 at Lake Tahoe, NV.

He is also survived by his loving daughter, Sarah-Jane Weisberg, along with extended family, close friends, and colleagues. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Major. A well know Physician/Ophthalmologist, Dr. Weisberg’s most recent practice was his own in Red Hook NY, Rhinebeck Ophthalmology.

He is fondly remembered as the “Eye Guy”, especially for those who remember the local little league softball teams he sponsored. A brother, Cy Blanc predeceased him. Funeral services and interment at Gerald B. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY will begin promptly at 1:30pm on Wednesday, January 2nd 2019.

Those who wish to attend should arrive no later than 1:15pm. Memorial donations may be made in Dr. Weisberg’s memory to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Arrangements are under the direction of Burnett & White Funeral Homes 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY.
