Michael Preston Pelkey Nederland, Colorado Beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully at his home with his wife at his side on Saturday, September 29, 2018, in Nederland, Colorado. Mike was born on October 16, 1946, in Durand, Michigan to the late Hazel (Haire) Pelkey and Preston Pelkey. He attended Michigan Tech and Western Michigan University and played hockey for both.

He was an avid Red Wings fan. He was on the police force in Inkster, Michigan and Cooper City, Florida. Mike was known for his quick wit and humor.

He was a constant and comforting presence. He loved and cherished his family and will forever be remembered for his selfless nature. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Janet (Kraynak) Pelkey; his daughter and her spouse, Jennifer and Robb Hamilton; his grandchildren, Tyler Pelkey and Brady Hamilton; his sisters and their spouses, Patricia and James Roberts, Mary Kay Squires, Dorothy “Duff” and Kevin Jelsky; and many nieces and nephews.

His daughter, Michelle Pelkey, and his parents, Hazel and Preston Pelkey, have predeceased him. Funeral service will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 6, 2018 at the W.L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel 201 N. Miller Road Saginaw, Michigan 48609. Rev.

Julie Bailey will officiate. Friends and family may call at the chapel on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Pelkey family.
