Obituary for Mildred Louise Berg Mildred “Millie” Louise Freeberg Berg, age 91, of Red Wing, died Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems Red Wing. She was born November 30, 1926 in Minneola Township to Emil and Maybelle Christianson and grew up and attended school in Red Wing. On July 25, 1953 she married Glenn “Bud” Freeberg in St. Paul.

They lived in St. Paul for 20 years, returning to Red Wing in 1983. Glenn died on May 19, 1993. Millie had worked various jobs throughout her life including her time at an ammunition company during the war, waitressing at Nybo’s and bartending at the Red Men Club.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and also belonged to a social sorority in St. Paul. She enjoyed bowling and going to the casino. She is survived by her sister, Carol (James) Fossell of Wild Rose, WI; sister-in-law, Doris Christianson of South Milwaukee, WI; nieces and nephews, Sally (Van) Welke, Ruth (DeWayne) Swanson, Jeaney Hauschildt, Melody (Daniel) Zink, Brett (Patti) Fossell, Crystal (Mary Roe) Fossell, Dawn Dounar, Mark (Jenny) Fossell, Jeff (Carol) Christianson, Jay (Terri) Christianson, Billy (Patty) Thompson and Guy (Carol) Thompson and many great nieces and nephews and close cousin, Bernice (Harvey) Halpaus.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn “Bud” Freeberg; siblings, Emil “Chris” Christianson, Bedelia “Dillie” Riegleman, Pearl Quade and Isabel “Izzy” Zarbock and nieces and nephews, Mary Lou Catura, Judy Czerwinski, Marty Marks, Gene Riegleman and Judy Ann Christianson. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Chaplain Debby Bradley officiating. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be one prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Online memorials can be sent to the family at www.
