Obituary for Betty J. Syverson Betty J. Syverson, age 87 of Wanamingo died Thursday, November 08, 2018 at her home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo with Pastor David Krinke officiating. Burial will be in Lands Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Betty Jean Schleeter was born on September 29, 1931 in Mantorville, MN to Henry and Edna (Blatti) Schleeter. She grew up in Mantorville and graduated from Mantorville High School in 1949.

On June 5, 1949 she married Charles W. Syverson. They lived and farmed south of Wanamingo where they raised their four children. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother.

She was a farm homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, making lefse, sewing, traveling, dancing, playing solitaire, fishing and eating out. Betty was a member of Lands Lutheran Church. Betty is survived by her husband of sixty nine years, Charles; children, Gary Syverson of Minneapolis, Marlys Syverson of Shakopee, Wayne Syverson of Wanamingo and Mardell (Jim) Way of Kenyon; grandchildren, Mike Way of Mankato and Alyssa (Shawn) Dirkes of Moorhead; great-grandson, Sawyer Dirkes; sister-in-law, Lucille Ronningen of Wanamingo and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Edna; three brothers and their wives, Robert (Joyce) Schleeter, Henry (Sally Schleeter Jr. and Glenn (Margaret) Schleeter and brother-in-law, Kenneth Ronningen.
