Obituary for Reinhold Rudolph Kehren Reinhold “Rudy” Kehren April 23, 1922 – November 20, 2018 Reinhold Rudolph “Rudy” Kehren was called to his heavenly home on November 20, 2018 at his daughter Carolyn’s home in Eureka, Missouri. He was born on April 23, 1922 in Goodhue County, Minnesota to Joseph and Hanna (Schulz) Kehren. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Belvidere Township.

He attended elementary school at St. Peter’s Lutheran School and graduated from Goodhue High School in 1940. During World War II, he served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army with the 71st Infantry Division and was awarded a Silver Star medal for gallantry in combat. He later served as a U.S. Army Captain in Germany during the Korean War.

Rudy graduated from Iowa State University in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy. After that, we worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service and later as a farm loan agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. In 1961, he moved to Marshall, MN.

On August 16, 1964, he was united in marriage with Laura Fiechtner of Monango, North Dakota. In 1970, Rudy and Laura purchased Wee Moderns children’s clothing store in Marshall and operated it until their retirement in 2007. He was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church in Marshall serving in many different roles.

He loved his Bible and freely shared his faith in his Savior Jesus. He served as a volunteer in Christ Lutheran’s Jesus Cares ministry program. He also was involved in the community serving as a volunteer at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall and also with the local Republican Party.

He enjoyed his hobbies of reading, gardening, and playing his violin. He is survived by his son, Pastor Jonathan (Virginia) Kehren, of Morton Grove, Illinois and his daughter Carolyn (Brian) McCauley of Eureka, Missouri; five grandchildren, Joshua and Jason Kehren, and Hannah, Norah, and Leah McCauley; sister, Marie Deaven, and brothers, Walter and Raymond Kehren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his dear wife, Laura, brother Ben Kehren, and a brother and sister who died in childhood.

Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshall, MN on Wednesday, November 28th at 11:00 am with visitation at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 am. A visitation will also be held on Monday, November 26th from 5-7 pm followed by a prayer service at Mahn Family Funeral Home in Lake City, Minnesota. A graveside committal service will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Belvidere, Minnesota on Tuesday, November 27th at 11:00 am.
