Obituary for Miriam J. Reyes Miriam J. Reyes, 64, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Orlando, FL. She was born in Panama on August 20, 1954 to Héctor Mateo and Baudilia Avilez. Miriam lived in Puerto Rico and then Reading, PA until she decided to move to Davenport, FL on July 28, 2018.
She worked at warehouse for several years and then dedicated herself to being a housewife. She was of the Catholic faith. Miriam was a very cheerful lady, friendly and always joking.
She loved being with her family especially with her beloved husband, children and grandchildren. Despite having a strong character, she had a soft heart. She adored her sisters and loved her husband with all her heart.
Her husband whom she called “viejo” was her life. She was always with him, in the good and bad times and her love for him was unconditional. She always loved music and dancing, “salsa”.
She liked to cook, go to casinos, play bingo and lottery. She was the youngest sister but the strongest of all. Miriam will always be remembered by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edwin R. Torres; and great-granddaughter Amarieliz Elizabeth Serrano. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, José M. Reyes; daughters, Aida Mateo from Reading, PA and Miriam J. Rodríguez and husband, Víctor de Davenport, FL; sisters, Aida Álvarez and Elizabeth Mateo both from Reading, PA; grandchildren, Jose Manuel Morales, Iris Dilia Morales, Victor Januel Rodriguez and Jazaydee Veronica Rodriguez; and great-grandchildren, Katalina Love Cruz, A’ziah Dominic Cruz and Selena Rose Morales. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL.
Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, FL. Miriam J. Reyes, falleció el domingo, 16 de septiembre del 2018 a sus 64 años en Orlando, FL. Ella nació en Panamá el 20 de agosto del 1954 de Héctor Mateo y Baudilia Avilez.
Miriam vivió en Puerto Rico, luego en Reading, PA hasta que decidió mudarse a Davenport, FL el día 28 de julio del 2018. Ella trabajó en un almacén por varios años, luego se dedicó a ser ama de casa y era de la religión católica. Miriam era una señora muy alegre, amistosa y siempre andaba bromeando.
A ella le encantaba compartir con su familia en especial con su amado esposo, hijos y nietos. A pesar de ser una persona de carácter fuerte, tenía un corazón blandito. Ella adoraba a sus hermanas y amó a su esposo con todo su corazón.
Su esposo a quien ella le llamaba “viejo” fue su vida. Ella siempre estuvo con él, en las buenas y en las malas y su amor por él fue incondicional. Siempre le encantó la música y bailar, “salsa”.
Le gustaba cocinar, ir a los casinos, jugar bingo y lotería. Ella era la hermana más joven, pero a la vez la más fuerte de todas. Miriam será siempre recordada por todas esas personas que la conocieron.
Ella es precedida en muerte por sus padres; hermano, Edwin R. Torres; y bisnieta Amarieliz Elizabeth Serrano. Ella es sobrevivida por su esposo de 43 años, José M. Reyes; hijas, Aida Mateo de Reading, PA y Miriam J. Rodríguez y esposo, Víctor de Davenport, FL; hermanas, Aida Álvarez y Elizabeth Mateo ambas de Reading, PA; nietos, Jose Manuel Morales, Iris Dilia Morales, Victor Januel Rodriguez y Jazaydee Veronica Rodriguez; y bisnietos, Katalina Love Cruz, A’ziah Dominic Cruz y Selena Rose Morales. La visita en cuerpo presente se llevará a cabo el sábado, 22 de septiembre del 2018 de 11:00 a.m. seguido por el servicio funeral a las 12:00 de la tarde todo en la capilla de Oak Ridge Funeral Care en Haines City, FL.
