Miriam JoAnne Clifford June 24, 1933 – January 17, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Miriam JoAnne (Lozier) Clifford age 85 of Southington passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday Jan. 17, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 24, 1933 in Ravenna, OH, the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Lozier and Rose Anna (Fusselman) Lozier.

Miriam received her formal education from Braceville High School graduating in 1951. She attended Kent State University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1953. She was a dedicated educator, mentor and colleague to many; first in Youngstown City Schools, then Braceville Elementary School ,and finally serving for over 25 years at Southington Local Schools as a Kindergarten teacher, retiring in 1991.

She was a faithful member and sunday school teacher at the Braceville United Methodist Church for over 70 years. Miriam loved to travel, she was an avid reader and collector of children’s books and teddy bears. Her first interest and love was her family and friends, while others include crossword puzzles, game shows and participating in the Jolly Few Card Club for 35 years.

Miriam is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Dorothy Lozier, Helen Sutton, Avis Swanson, Agnes Brown, Marvel Young and brothers; Ben Lozier Jr. and D.L. Lozier. Her memory will be carried on by her loving family; sons, Edward & Patricia Clifford of Warren, and their children, Michelle Kaszowki and Kristine Butts; Thomas & Diane Clifford of Lutz, FL their children, Audrey & Juliana Clifford, daughters; Rose Anne & Lloyd Lettie of Southington, and their children, Dwayne and Derek Lettie; Cathleen & Andrew Ruschak of Angier, NC and their son, Thomas Ruschak; Melanie & James Wolke of Southington, and their children, Rebecca & J.T. Wolke; Four great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be at the James Funeral Home on Wednesday,January 23, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 11:00AM. Miriam will be laid to rest in Braceville Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James Funeral Home 8 East Broad Street Newton Falls, Ohio 44444 (330) 872-5440.
