Mother Jean Halliburton, 81 departed this life following a lengthy illness on November 4, 2018, surrounded by her children and close family members. Born in Elyria, Ohio, Mother Halliburton graduated from Elyria High School in 1954. Before his passing, she was married to Harvey D. Halliburton for 42 years giving birth to four children.

The Halliburton’s were one of the first Black-owned businesses on the south end of Elyria, Ohio operating a pick-up station for Jack Knight Dry Cleaners for 35 years. Mother Halliburton was a past award recipient of the Elyria Club of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. For over 35 years, Mother Halliburton was a very faithful member of the Original Glorious Apostolic Church in Elyria. She loved studying the word of God, was a former Sunday School teacher, and was a current member of the Mother’s Board.

Known for her work on the Usher Board, Mother Halliburton served as board president for many years teaching usher seminars and participating at state and national conventions that resulted in accolades such as the Original Glorious Church State Usher of the Year. Mother Halliburton was an active Missionary. For decades, she supported local, state, national and international causes including the American Cancer Society.

She also had a very impactful greeting card ministry sending encouragement, birthday and well wishes for many years. A mother, confidant, and mentor to countless women, she was an encourager who imparted wisdom on “real life” issues. She leaves to cherish her memory, sons Harvey D. Halliburton Jr. (nee Vicki), Bruce Halliburton; daughters Rena M. Chaney, and Betty J. Halliburton; brother Donald E. Jones; grandchildren, Anthony Sir Carl Chaney, Lequentin Chaney, Brandon J. Halliburton, Jourdan M. Halliburton, Marlo T. Scott and Lindsey R. Scott; twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and a host of special nieces and nephews, and church daughter Dana Greer.

She was preceded in death by husband Harvey D. Halliburton; parents, William E. Jones, and Margaret Miller Jones; stepmother, Mary Jones Parsons; brothers, William C. Jones, James A. Jones, Sr. and Douglas E. Jones; sisters, Lucy M. Fitzpatrick, Ruth V. Smallwood, Thelma E. Martin, and Sarah L. Brown. Friends may call Sunday, November 11, 2018, at the Original Glorious Apostolic Church, Elyria, from 6 to 8 P.M. The Celebration of Life service will be Monday, November 12, 2018, at 11 A.M., at the Original Glorious Apostolic Church where Pastor Doris E. Williams will officiate.
