Obituary for Nancy Lee Schwalb Nancy Lee Schwalb, 83, of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away at 4:38AM on July 16, 2018. Nancy was born November 9, 1934 in Lincoln, Illinois, the daughter of the late Clarence and Lucyle {Lawhead} Miller. Nancy graduated from the University of Illinois in 1956 where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Teacher Training.

She was an active member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and was a member of the Torch honor society. After college, Nancy worked for the Illinois Secretary of State in Springfield, and taught high school history and Spanish in Olney, Illinois. Nancy married Lt.

Randell S. Cox December 29, 1957 at the First Methodist Church in Lincoln, Illinois. She and her husband had 2 children (Briand and Alyssa) and lived in EI Paso, Texas, Lawton, Oklahoma, and Anchorage, Alaska. After her husband passed away in 1963, Nancy arid her children settled in Edwardsville, Illinois where she worked for real estate developer Earl Wilson.

She married Robert G. Schwalb August 16, 1970, adopting his 3 children (Joan, Rhonda, and Paul Schwalb) from a previous marriage before having a child of their own (Blair Schwalb). Bob and Nancy enjoyed dancing and playing bridge with their friends. Nancy devoted herself to his care for several years before he passed April 21, 2016.

Nancy was an accomplished quilter. She was a member and past president of the Heartland Quilters Guild and taught several quilting classes throughout the area. She was an active member and one-time president of the local PEO KH chapter, and also served two terms as president of the local Madison County Home Extension.

Nancy loved playing games with her kids and grandkids, she spent her later years devoted to the care of her mother and husband. Mrs. Schwalb is survived by 5 children: Joan (Kim) Ketcham of Edwardsville; Brian Cox of Grain Valley, Missouri; Rhonda Schwalb of Glen Carbon; Alyssa {Don} Maxwell of Edwardsville; Blair (Kimberly) Schwalb of Edwardsville; 13 grandchildren: Kerry (Jessie) Ketcham; Katie (Justin) Chambers; Jason (Erica) Cox; Brendan Cox; Logan Schwalb; Tyler (Kayt) Maxwell; Kristin Maxwell; Nick Schwalb; John (Tiffancy) Schwalb; Carter Schwalb; Spencer Schwalb; Avery Schwalb; Meredith Schwalb; 2 great-grandchildren: Koy and Kylie Ketcham. She is preceded in death by her first husband Randell Cox; her second husband Robert Schwalb; and a son Paul Schwalb.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. A private family interment will be on Thursday at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
