Nancy A. (Goulart) Heisey, 66, of Gloucester, wife of Paul R. Heisey, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 19, 2019 in the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester after her courageous battle with Dementia. Nancy was born in Gloucester, MA on March 23, 1952, the daughter of the late Jerome and Julia (Amero) Goulart. She attended and graduated Gloucester High School with the Class of 1971.

She and Paul were married for 44 years and some of their best memories came from going “Up North” with the family for their annual 4th of July vacation, at their rented cabin on Conway Lake in North Conway, NH. Nancy was known for her cooking and baking. She loved doctoring up recipes to make them her own, and nothing gave her greater joy than cooking for those that she loved.

Even after working a long shift at Crosby’s Marketplace in Manchester-by-the-Sea. If anyone was struggling or having a hard time, she would break out her cooking utensils and start baking sweet treats for them. Her big heart wasn’t just for her family and friends.

She was also an avid animal lover, especially the dogs she had throughout most of her life. It was not uncommon for her fur babies to have more presents under the tree at Christmas than the humans in her life. And if you met her she would take out a picture from her wallet and share a story or two about them.

Nancy was a member of the GFC Women’s Auxiliary in Gloucester and would help run the penny sales when she was younger. A loving, giving, wonderful woman, her presence will be missed by all those who came to know her, especially her loved ones. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannine and husband Charles O’Neil of Magnolia, her brothers, Jerome Jr. and wife Pattie (O’Leary) and Ron and his wife Sonia (Anderson) all of Gloucester.

Nancy is also survived by her very special Auntie Ruthie (Viator) Cunningham of Gloucester in addition to many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Jerry and Julia Goulart and her in-laws Paul B. and Margaret Heisey. Her visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester on Sunday, February 24 from 4-7 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited.

Her funeral service will be held from the Greely Funeral Home on Monday, February 25 at 8:45 a.m. with her mass being celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect St. Gloucester. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to: Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 OR Friends of Seacoast, 292 Washington St. Gloucester, MA 01930 OR Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
