Nell Jones Brown, 91, a well-known resident of the Hill City community and Sugar Valley, GA, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at her home. She was born in Gordon County on May 30, 1927, daughter of the late Richard and Bessie Williams Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Brown; her son, Ray Brown; brothers, Virgil Jones, R.A. Jones, and Clarence Jones; sisters, Valeria Wilson, Dot Arnold, E.O. Currence, Juanita Shrive, and Helen Rogers; and a brother-in-law, Earl Barker.

For many years, Nell enjoyed teaching Sunday School, and working with numbers in bookkeeping at Henry, Staten, and Bailey Accounting. She retired from Belmont Chemical. Nell was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church.

Survivors include her grandson, Alan (Angie) Brown of Tunnel Hill; her great-grandchildren, Walker Brown and Jenna C. Brown; her brother and sister-in-law, Max and Pat Jones of Rocky Face; and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue Holsomback of Dalton, Sara Beth Barker of Largo, FL, Varden Wilson of Woodstock, and Jerry Arnold of Sugar Valley. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive. Services to honor the life of Nell Jones Brown will be held Tuesday, March 5th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev.

David Ray and Rev. Dr. Brent Davis officiating. Music will be arranged by Kenny Herron.

Interment will follow in Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 PM until the service hour of 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Nell had requested memorial donations be made to your favorite charity, or to Heritage Baptist Church.
