Obituary for Nellie Evelyn Spires Memorial services for Nellie Evelyn Spires, 89, of Easley, will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia. Reverend Dan Rabon will officiate. Evelyn Spires passed away February 12, 2018.

Born in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Wesley Rauch and Cora Steele Rauch and loving wife to her late husband of more than 30 years, Heyward W. Spires. She loved her large family, her flowers and working in her yard. Mrs. Spires is survived by her three daughters, Reba Hill (Richard), of Lexington, Gwendolyn Henderson of Easley, Susan Bible (Hidey) of Katy, TX; step-daughter, Sandra Phillips of Edgefield; brothers, Claude “Buddy” Rauch (Glenda) of St. Augustine, FL, Bobby Rauch of Columbia; son-in-law , Gary F. Spires,Sr of Aiken, SC and brother-in-law, Larry D. Spires (Helen) of N. Augusta, SC 14 grandchildren, Richard (Ritchie) Lewis Hill, Jr., Gary Francis Spires Jr.(Nicki), Donald Melvin Spires (Selisa), Shane Dean Spires Sr. (Tina), Kevin Lee Spires Sr. (Tammy), Cara Jean Spires, Dana Marie Croft Gordon, Elmer Anthony Croft, Jr. (Stephanie), Suzanne Elizabeth Wexler, Jennifer Louise Minks Downey Schelsteder (Joey); step-grandchildren, James David Phillips (Sonja), Stephen Roland Phillips, William Alan Phillips and Joyce Elaine Phillips Johnson (Tom) and a large and loving extended family.

Rudolph Rauch and W. Leonard Rauch; 2 sisters, Mary Louise Smith and Rosie Lea Graham; brother-in-law, Ray Maurice Spires.
