Newman Dudley Stroud, known to family and friends as “Dud”, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the age of 78. The son of the late Phillip Sloan Stroud and Mattie Virginia Newman Stroud, he was born December 30, 1939. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Chassity Stroud, in 2008.

“Dud” was self-employed as an auctioneer and used car dealer. He was owner/operator of Dud’s Trading Post for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jo Ann Potts Stroud; three sons: Benny Stroud (Kelly) and Danny Stroud of Cooleemee, and Timothy Stroud of Yadkinville; four daughters: Rotonda Mason of Mocksville, Gewann Etchison of Woodleaf, Dudra McQueen of Cooleemee and Jill Reynolds of Mocksville; one brother, Wayne Stroud of Harmony; one sister, Shelby Drum of Statesville; plus 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
