Norman J. Rettler, age 80, of Greenville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 12, 2018. He was born in Appleton on July 20, 1937, son of the late Melvin and Mary (Janssen) Rettler. Following high school, Norm proudly served his country in the Air Force for four years.

After returning from the service, Norm married the love of his life, Carol Tourville, on September 30, 1961. Norm worked for 46 years at Asten Johnson Forming Fabrics. After retirement, he and Carol spent 11 wonderful years in Sun City West, AZ.

Norm took up woodworking and made countless special gifts for his family and friends. Many memories were made while boating, snowmobiling and fishing. He also spent many hours tending to his garden which he so enjoyed.

Norm was a great, loyal friend to many people. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather and his family meant everything to him. He will be missed deeply.

Norm is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol; his children: Sandra (special friend, Mark Servia) Rettler, Duane (Lynn) Rettler and Ryan (Nina) Rettler; grandchildren: Amber Rettler, Jessica (Eric) Kundinger, Jennifer, Jonathan, and Jacob Rettler; siblings: Rita Peters and Dan (Maija) Rettler; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jack (Bev) Tourville, Barbara Tourville, Joan Steeves, Margaret Mullins and Mickey Simpson; and many nieces and nephews that adored their uncle Norm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mary; a brother, Marvin (Diane) Rettler; father and mother-in-law, Ransom and Theresa Tourville; brothers-in-law: Robert and Duane Tourville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at St. Michael’s Church, 1784 Chapelle Rue, De Pere.

Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Norm’s name.
