OBITUARY Nuha C Sackllah November 16, 1932 – January 1, 2019 Nuha Cook Sackllah, wife of George Sackllah and mother of Essa, Linda (Salah), Addel, Jimmy, and Danny reposed in the Lord Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Nuha was born in Ramallah, Palestine on November 16th, 1932 to Bulus & Iknou Cook. The fourth child of six siblings, she loved her brother and sisters passionately and would do anything to protect them.

Her faith blossomed as she spent her youth immersed in the Holy Land. In November 1949, she married the love of her life George Sackllah in Ramallah. A year later, while pregnant with her firstborn son Essa, she immigrated to the United States by way of boat, docking at Ellis Island.

Nuha and George settled in Garden City, Michigan, where they raised their family. Nuha was not only a mother to her 5 children, she was a mother to all who entered her home and sat at her table. Whether it was her nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, or friends, she never let anyone leave her home without a full stomach and a smile.

Nuha operated the family owned business, George’s Party Store, often working seven days a week. She was a beloved member of the community, very active in the church, and active with the American Federation of Palestine. In 1982, Nuha & George moved to Houston, Texas.

As her children married and had children of their own, she became the cornerstone of the family, helping to raise each of her grandchildren and guiding them with a loving hand. Devoutly committed to God, she always put her faith and family first, taking care of all who came through her doors. A strong woman who always spoke her mind, her warmth radiated throughout every place she visited, bringing laughter, joy and comfort to her family and friends.

Nuha is survived by George Sackllah, her husband of 69 years, her children Essa, Linda (and husband John Salah), Addel (and wife Mona), Jimmy (and wife Tracy), Danny (and wife Maram), her grandchildren Janan, George (and wife Lara), Jenna, Nicole, Andrea, David, Danielle, Kathrine, and Paul, her brother Issa Cook (and wife Rose), her sisters Naimeh Khoury and Najla Balat, and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. She is preceeded in death by her parents Bulus & Iknou Cook, and her sisters Salwa Rukab and Suhaila Foteh. Visitation & Viewing will be from 5:00pm – 7:00pm Thursday, January 3, followed by Trisagion Prayers at 7:00pm at St. George Orthodox Christian Church (5311 Mercer Street, Houston, TX 77005).

Funeral Service will be at 10:30am Friday, January 4, at St. George Orthodox Christian Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery (12800 Westheimer, Houston, TX 77077). May her memory be eternal!
