Vernie Napier Nolen, 93, of Martinsville, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019, at SOVAH Health of Martinsville. She was born on April 22, 1925, in Drakes Branch, Virginia, to the late Burnett Napier and the late Irene Rickman Napier. She had been employed by Bassett Walker Knitting Company and attended White’s Chapel Baptist Church.

She had been a member of the Rich Acres Ruritan Club; and loved her family dearly. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. Mrs. Nolen is survived by her daughters, Lucinda Mabe and Joan Grogan; sons, Johnny Nolen and Larry Nolen; six grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Brother Bill Preskitt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Fair Haven Memorial Park, 18960 A. L. Philpott Highway, Spencer, Virginia.
