John Reuben Bowman, 76, of Martinsville, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019, at his home. He was born April 2, 1942, in Laurel Fork, Virginia, to the late Hubert Preston Bowman and Emily Worrell Bowman. He retired from Dupont and enjoyed golf and bluegrass music.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Berniece Johnson Bowman; sisters, Virginia “Dell” Cassell, Winifred “Winnie” Myers, Mildred “Bill” Gough, and Birtrice “Birt” Bowman. John is survived by his daughter, Donna Moore (Tim); son, John Bowman, Jr. (Gin); sisters, Anna Nester, Nancy Tatum, Rama “Booby” Cooper, and Jane Dalton; grandchildren, Krystal Lang (Thomas), and Jordan Moore (Ariel), great-grandchildren Kaiyah, Kenna, Junior, Gabriel and Savannah, and a very special friend Lockie Turman. The funeral will be Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 3:00 P. M. at Worrell Memorial Primitive Baptist Church, 1365 Worrell Memorial Road, Laurel Fork, Virginia, with Gleason Worrell officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Worrell Memorial Cemetery. The family will also have a visitation on Saturday, February 16, 2019, from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. at Wright Funeral Services Chapel, 1425 Greensboro Road, Martinsville, Virginia.
