Obituary for Mr. Olin Thomas Childress Sr. Olin T. Childress died at home on April 10, 2018 in Townville SC at the age of 85. Olin is survived by Betty, his wife of 63 years, his brother Jesse Childress of Dillard GA, son Gary and daughter Nancy of Townville SC, son Tom of Albuquerque NM, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Kenny.

Olin was born on October 10, 1932, in Pickens County SC to Luther and Cornelia Childress. He was a Korean War veteran serving two combat tours before marrying the former Betty Jean Rogers of Salem SC in 1954. After leaving the Army he worked in construction supervision until starting his own heating and air conditioning business in Seneca.

He was a member of the Clemson York Rite, a Shriner and Past Master of Seneca Masonic Lodge 185. After retiring from business, Olin loved to dote on his grandchildren, grow tomatoes and fish. After a private family Masonic Rite ceremony at Davenport Funeral Home in West Union, the funeral service is scheduled for 11:30 AM on April 14th at Townville Baptist Church, with a reception to follow.

Interment will be at Oconee Memorial Park. Reverend Jim Crittendon will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend the church funeral service and reception to celebrate Olin’s life.
