Opal Darling, 93, of Killbuck, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, November 18, 2018, following a brief illness. Her family was by her side. She was born on June 3rd, 1925, in Millersburg to John and Alma Carillon.

Opal graduated from Millersburg High School in 1943. She married John D. Waltman on December 24, 1947. John passed away in 1978.

Opal then married Daniel Darling on August 25, 1985. Opal was a member of the Loudonville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnessess. She always put her family first and she cared about other people more than herself.

She worked hard on the family farm her whole life. Opal is survived by husband Daniel Darling, sister Catherine Kiner, children, Robert Waltman, Dolletta Chanay, and Sharon Chapman; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Eric Chanay, Jenn and Michael Douglas and their daughter Piper, Ian and Mariah Chapman and their daughter Lydia, Morgan and Zach Wallace, and Ryan and Jared Carpenter and their daughter Raelah. Opal was preceded in death by first husband John D. Waltman, brothers and sisters, Ralph Carillon, Owen Carillon, Earl Carillon, and Mary Alsip, and son Harold Waltman.

Funeral service will be 12 noon, Friday at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Robert Amend officiating. Burial will be at Killbuck Cemetery, Killbuck, Ohio. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday at the funeral home.

Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd. , Wooster, Ohio 44691. The family would like to thank the staff of Pomerene Hospital, Lifecare Hospice, and special caregivers Susie Meyers and Lynn Leaman for compassionate care of Opal and support for the family.
