Obituary for Pamela “Pam” S. Schmidt Pamela (Pam) Schmidt, homemaker, wife, and mother died on July 26th, 2018 at the age of 70. Pam was born April 1, 1948 to J.R. (Ralph) and Bess (Drury Weixelman) Stierwalt in Manhattan, Kansas. She attended Kansas State University and graduated with a degree in Biology.

On February 14, 1970, she married Jerry Schmidt in Manhattan, Kansas. They moved immediately to Perrin, Air Force Base in Sherman, Texas where Jerry was stationed; eventually moving to Syracuse, New York; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Dayton, Ohio with the Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, they moved to Plano, Texas and then settled in Kirkwood, Missouri in 1987.

Pam spent years volunteering with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, school, and church. She was still in touch with Scouts from her school days and organized regular reunions. Her Kirkwood Girl Scouts gathered annually for “Tea & S’mores”.

She loved working with children and tried to inspire a sense of wonder in God’s creation every day. Her dinner clubs from Dayton and Plano had reunions. Her bridesmaids’ had a weekend trip every year in Kansas City.

She valued friendship and loyalty and tried to practice it in herself. She enjoyed Concordia Lutheran Church, her reading club, traveling with Jerry, time with grandchildren, cooking, her “Soup & Scripture” small group, neighborhood events, and hosting friends and family. She is survived by Jerry, her husband of 48 years, three sons, Erik (Sarah) of Chicago, Tom (Mickie) of Kirkwood, Jim (Sarah) of St. Louis, and daughter, Anne Shearer (Jeff) of Creve Coeur; seven granddaughters, Leah, Julie, Allison, Emmy, Cora, Charlotte, and Gwendolyn, and five grandsons, Connor, Samuel, Liam, Dylan, and Wyatt, in addition to brother Dean Weixelman of Camdenton, MO, nephews, nieces, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John, and sister Billie Mae. Donations in Pam’s memory may be made to Concordia Lutheran’s Vacation Bible School and to the Siteman Cancer Center. In her memory, go to lunch with a friend, go for a walk in the woods, or gather around a campfire.
