Obituary for Paul A. Zima Paul Andrew Zima passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018, after battling cancer for the past three and a half years. He fought his disease with strength, dignity and grace until the very last moment. Paul was present for his wife, Kelly and his children, Kaitlyn and Parker, throughout and we are all incredibly thankful for the love, determination, strength and guidance that he has provided for us all.

Paul is also survived by his loving family including parents, Maynard (Carolyn) Zima and the late Elena Zima; his siblings, John (Cheryl) Zima, Diana (Mark) Metz and Jim Zima; his in-laws James and Ginger Archer; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Paul was born in Kewaunee, WI in 1967 and spent most of his younger life in Algoma, WI where he graduated from Algoma High School in 1986. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and later, DePaul University in Chicago where he earned his Masters of Business Administration degree.

His career spanned over 30 years in the consumer healthcare divisions of Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson, and most recently, the Bayer Corporation. As a strong believer in community service, Paul served as a Northbrook (IL) Park District Commissioner since 2008. He was elected twice by the citizens of Northbrook and was proud to be a member of the Board of Commissioners where he served in several leadership roles.

He also served for six years as a member the Northbrook Economic Development Committee. In his younger days, Paul enjoyed skiing, scuba diving, and international travel. He had logged over one hundred dives and visited 15 countries (Sweden, Denmark, Germany, England, Italy, Vatican City, France, Canada, Mexico, Belize, Aruba, BVI, Tahiti, China, Thailand), on four continents.

Photographing the places he visited became a favorite hobby. In recent years, his adventures focused on his family whom he loved dearly. His favorite trips became long weekends to Door County and Lake Geneva in his beloved home state of Wisconsin.

Swimming lessons, birthday parties, park visits, and bike rides with his family became his passion. He loved watching his children experience new things as he participated with them. His children’s energy, curiosity, and adventurous spirit inspired him.

His wife Kelly was the true love of his life, and he cherished their time together. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 4 to 8 pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview (just south of Lake Ave. on west side).
