Paul Roger Galvin, 82 WOLFEBORO – After a period of declining health, Paul Roger Galvin, age 82, passed away at his home in Wolfeboro on October 23, 2018. Paul was born July 31, 1936 to Lloyd Earl Galvin and Ruth Nellie Hooper Galvin. Upon graduation from Brewster Academy in 1954, he served in the Army National Guard and began his career as a printer at Kingswood Press in Wolfeboro.

Despite the technological changes that transformed the printing industry, Paul was able to continue his special interests, hand set type, and the running of the venerable Heidelberg press until his retirement. Paul was the organist at the First Christian Church for many years and upon his retirement continued to freelance his musical skills when needed at various churches and functions in the area. Paul’s interest in antiques began in his early teens when he befriended an antique dealer who mentored Paul until his life-long passion was born.

He had an open shop early on but found retail too confining and became a picker for other dealers and consigned in some area shops. His special interests were art glass, Victorian silver, early White Mountain paintings, and the art deco period. Paul’s other interests were varied.

He was an excellent pastry cook, and avid student of the events leading up to World War II, a fan of early country music as well as Willie Nelson, and an ardent lover of cats. His latest feline companion, Miss Cleo, a feisty tortoiseshell adopted from the humane society, tested his endurance but with love and patience, became his devoted friend. Watching her one day, Paul remarked that having cats was like having sculpture moving through your home.

Paul will be greatly missed and remembered by his beloved sister Joyce, his special friend Judith Furness, Miss Cleo, his precious friends in church, and many in the antique business. Paul was a quiet man, a gentle man. In his later years, he worshiped at and enjoyed the social events at his church, the First Baptist Church in Wolfeboro Falls, where the grace of his life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 10th at 2:00.

Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the Lakes Region Humane Society, PO Box 655, Ossipee, NH 03864. If you wish to express a condolence or leave a fond memory, please visit, www. lordfuneralhome.com.
