Paul’s Obituary Paul Wayne Howard Paul Wayne Howard, age 54, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on January 26, 2019, at his residence following a 16-month battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. He was born August 4, 1964, in Princeton, Missouri, to Kenneth Howard and Jo (Delameter) Howard. Paul spent his entire life in Chillicothe, with the exception of his early childhood, when he lived with his family in Germany and South Carolina as his father served in the United States Army.
He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1982. He was united in marriage to Patricia Lynn Doughty on July 7, 2012, in Simpson Park in Chillicothe, Missouri. Paul was General Merchandising/HBC Manager for Hy-Vee, Inc. in Chillicothe until his death.
He began his career at Hy-Vee in 1981 as a junior in high school. Through his 37 years at Hy-Vee, Paul was the head of several departments, always striving to maintain Hy-Vee’s mission of “Making lives easier, healthier, happier”. Everyone who knew Paul recognized that he was loyal to his job and made customer service a priority.
He was actively involved in the community, serving three terms as Chillicothe’s Fourth Ward City Councilperson. During that tenure, he was focused on the best interests of his constituents of the fourth ward and overall welfare of Chillicothe. He especially enjoyed working with the mayor, city manager, other council members, city staff and community leaders in the building of the new Hedrick Medical Center, the Fire Training Center, and the new Life Flight Eagle hangar at the Chillicothe Municipal Airport.
He also served on the Edgewood Cemetery Board, was a member and officer of Chillicothe Horseshoe Pitchers Association, a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a former youth assistant and custodian for the FLC. Paul enjoyed participating in church league softball and volleyball and was active in teaching and competitive karate for several years. He is survived by his wife, Patricia of the home; his daughter, Hanna Myrick and husband C.J. of Chillicothe, Missouri; stepson, Kellin Ferguson and wife Lalka of Russia, Ohio; stepdaughter, Konner Squires and husband Jacob of Fort Worth, Texas; one grandson, Oliver Myrick of Chillicothe, Missouri; mother, Jo Delameter of Chillicothe, Missouri; father Ken Howard and wife Lois of Princeton, Missouri; brother, Kevin Howard of Lyon, Michigan; sister, Kim Howard of Princeton, Missouri; stepsister, Erica Pollard of Princeton, Missouri; mother-in-law, Mildred Doughty of Chillicothe, Missouri; brother-in-law, Doug Doughty and wife Barbara of Chillicothe, Missouri; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Ruth Howard; paternal grandparents, Frank and Ada (Anderson) Howard; maternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Opal (Kelley) Delamater and father-in-law, Wesley Merle Doughty. Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the UMC-Livingston County Cancer Assistance and/or the Chillicothe Horseshoe Pitchers Association and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
