PAULINE A. KMACK Pauline Ann Kmack, 91, of Quincy, formerly of Chicago, passed away at 8:36 a.m. Tuesday (December 11, 2018) at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy. Born May 11, 1927 in Duryea, Pennsylvania, Pauline was the daughter of George and Mary Kiwieja Mesko. She married Henry Joseph Kmack on June 23, 1945 in Duryea, Pennsylvania.

He preceded her in death on February 12, 2007. Pauline and Henry moved to Chicago following his discharge from the U. S. Navy. While living in Chicago, Pauline was with the Moose Lodge and the Senior Citizens.

She was honored by being awarded the Senior of the Year Award from the City of Chicago. Pauline remained active after moving to Quincy and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and enjoyed the many activities offered at the Illinois Veteran’s Home. Pauline also loved needlepoint, knitting and crocheting.

Pauline was devoted to caring for her family. During WW II, she was a singer for a traveling band and had worked at Western Electric, Walgreens and later as the manager at the Tinder Box Tobacco Shop in the Ford City Mall in Chicago. Surviving are her children, Mary Ann Strom (Robert) of Thousand Oaks, CA, Gerald “Jerry” Kmack (Judy) of Chilton, WI, Georgianne Chromczak (Henry) of Johnsburg, IL and Thomas Kmack of Chicago; two grandchildren, Jeff Strom (Lizette) and Eric Strom; two great grandchildren, Tristin Strom and Brendan Strom; a brother, George Mesko (Jan) of St. Germain, WI; a sister, Mary Karney of West Palm Beach, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; and her other siblings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday morning (December 14, 2018) at 8:30 in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy with the Rev. Donald Blickhan officiating.

Graveside services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in St. Mary Cemetery, 87th Street & Hamlin Avenue, Evergreen Park, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the IVH Activity Fund in care of Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, 1435 State St., Quincy, IL 62301.
